XPerience Baselayer: Built for Nordic and Cross-Country Skiing
Share

Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing put almost opposite demands on a baselayer. Downhill, you want static warmth and low bulk under a shell. Nordic skiing is a continuous aerobic effort — your shoulders, hips, and stride need to move without a single seam or fold fighting back.
That's the gap the XPerience Baselayer is built for. Its priorities are different from the rest of the ACCAPI baselayer lineup: stretch and range of motion over static insulation.
Flexibility that moves with you
Nordic skiing repeats the same shoulder and hip motion for an hour or more. A baselayer that restricts even slightly at the shoulder or the stride becomes noticeable fast — and fatigue from fighting your own clothing is fatigue you don't need on top of the trail itself.
XPerience is built around EXS technology — four-way stretch through the shoulders and hips that moves with the body rather than resisting it, with flat seams where they'd otherwise chafe on a long stride. EQT is also built in, tuned to support balance and stability, which matters on variable trail conditions.
Managing effort, not just insulation
Cross-country skiing generates a lot of body heat relative to the ambient temperature — you're working hard in cold air. XPerience is built as a lighter, more breathable layer than Polar Bear or ErgoRacing for exactly that reason: on a sustained aerobic effort, freedom of movement and breathability matter more than static warmth.

FAQ
What's the best baselayer for cross-country skiing?
For sustained aerobic effort, range of motion and breathability generally matter more than raw insulation — that's the gap XPerience's EXS stretch construction is built to fill, versus a static-warmth alpine layer like Polar Bear.
How is this different from an alpine race baselayer?
ErgoRacing is built around AEC compression for downhill speed and muscle support. XPerience is built around EXS stretch for a continuous, repetitive stride over distance. Different technology, different sport demand.
Does XPerience use infrared fiber?
No. Like Polar Bear and ErgoRacing, XPerience uses ACCAPI's non-infrared technologies — here, EXS stretch and EQT balance. FIR fiber is reserved for ACCAPI's recovery-focused products.
